3D Printed Autonomous Shuttle, Olli, is GoMentum’s Newest Recruit
On a quiet fall morning in Concord, California, team members from Advanced Mobility Group were on hand to help GoMentum Station welcome its newest partner. Together, AAA Northern California (NCNU) and Contra Costa Transportation Authority (CCTA) unveiled Local Motors’ newest tech, the self-driving Olli shuttle. This partnership is the latest in the drive to safely advance autonomous vehicle technology to solve congestion, pollution, and accessibility challenges.
CCTA dubs Olli as “an environmentally-friendly, viable and sustainable transportation option for cities, companies, hospitals, campuses and other locations where people need to move from one place to another.” The shuttle features cognitive response technology and sensors, and an obstacle avoidance system. Local Motors and AAA Northern California will continue testing for a year before piloted deployment options are considered in Contra Costa County.
Fun Fact: Seventy percent of the Olli shuttle is printed with a 3D printer which allows for complete customization and a quicker assembly.
