February is Transit Month

AMG’s TDM experts continue to highlight various mobility options through the 511 Contra Costa program, and February is Transit Month.

Through the end of February, middle and high school students are receiving free transit passes on County Connection and Tri-Delta Transit by enrolling in SchoolPool, a youth transit ticket promotion designed to introduce students to public transportation at a young age. Incentivizing young people to build skills and gain confidence in the use of public transit, 511 Contra Costa provides approximately 1,200 bus passes to students in grades 6-12 in central and eastern Contra Costa County each year.

Also in February, 511 Contra Costa has partnered with County Connection to provide an entire month of free rides for people of all ages on the new Express Route 99x. Serving commuters along Highway 4 between North Concord BART and the Amtrak Station in Martinez, the 99x has five morning and five afternoon roundtrips each weekday. Passes are not required; riders can simply board the Express Route 99x to enjoy a fast, free, and convenient trip.

Any time is a good time to make the switch from driving alone to public transit. Year-round incentive programs, including Try Transit for employees and college students and BOGO bus pass deals, are also available from 511 Contra Costa.
