I Met the Glydcar! – An Op-Ed by Our AMG Intern
AMG had the pleasure of visiting Glydways for two of their recent demonstrations! Team members got the opportunity to ride the Glydcar and experience the technology that is poised to revolutionize transportation by providing first/last mile connections to transit. Mark Seeger, CEO of Glydways, invited everyone to ask questions and give their input and thoughts, showing his team’s dedication to collaborating with community members. He is working to ensure that the needs of all people are met, especially marginalized constituents.
As someone who has seen the project unfold since the start of my internship, going to the demonstration was incredible. I have witnessed, first-hand, the hard work from Glydways and its partners across the Bay Area. It was amazing to see and touch a physical product of what I have been visualizing over the past few months, and, honestly, it exceeded my expectations. Although there is still work to be done, the first version of the vehicle provided a comfortable, smooth, safe, and cool ride. There are massive transportation gaps and inequalities in the Bay Area, and Glydways will, I believe, be able to fill some of those. We don’t need more cars on the street, we need smarter, more sustainable, public transportation. I am so excited to see what’s to come!
