CVAG Regional Traffic Signal Synchronization Project

Client: Coachella Valley Association of Governments (CVAG)

AMG is leading systems integration for the CVAG Regional Traffic Signal Synchronization Program—modernizing corridor operations and integrating regional traffic systems to improve safety, efficiency, and connectivity across the Coachella Valley.

Connecting agencies and partners to align systems and deliver interoperable solutions.

AMG’s role extends beyond systems design, engineering, and integration—serving as a connector between agencies, vendors, and technology partners to standardize system architecture, align operational protocols, secure funding, and implement interoperable solutions that deliver lasting regional and community benefits.

The CVAG Regional Traffic Signal Synchronization Program represents a major step toward connected, intelligent transportation in the Coachella Valley. AMG leads the systems integration and technical coordination for this program, transforming legacy infrastructure into a future-ready ITS ecosystem.

AMG is leading systems integration for the CVAG Regional Traffic Signal Synchronization Program, a transformative effort to modernize signal operations and create a unified regional traffic management framework. The project is upgrading legacy infrastructure along Highway 111, Ramon Road, and Washington Street, implementing advanced traffic management systems (ATMS), controllers, and communications that support future Integrated Corridor Management (ICM), Smart City, and CAV applications.

The initiative includes development of a new Regional TMC and coordination among 13 local TOCs—linking agencies, systems, and data to enable consistent operations across jurisdictions. AMG’s comprehensive support includes fiber and wireless design, software implementation, and performance analytics, providing the technical foundation for a fully connected regional network.

By modernizing field equipment, communication systems, and control software, the project lays the foundation for regional interoperability and future ICM and CAV applications. The new Regional TMC and locally connected TOCs will allow agencies to monitor, analyze, and manage traffic operations collaboratively—reducing delays, improving safety, and enhancing multimodal travel options.

Through expertise in systems engineering, project delivery, and interagency coordination, AMG is helping CVAG and its member agencies enhance mobility, reduce congestion, and strengthen safety across one of Southern California’s most dynamic corridors—advancing a smarter, more sustainable regional transportation system.
