AMG continues to evaluate, design, and implement traffic safety improvements in local communities in the Bay Area and throughout California. Stockton, California is the latest city in the Central Valley to harness the power of the High-intensity Activated Crosswalk (HAWK) which adds an extra layer of protection for vulnerable road users at high traffic locations. HAWK signals are traffic signals that allow pedestrians to cross the road safely. HAWK signals operate in a YELLOW–RED–FLASHING RED sequence to alert motorists that pedestrians need to cross the road. AMG staff are providing professional engineering services, to the City of Stockton, to design and implement HAWK signals at 8 locations. AMG is also developing the education and outreach materials to inform the public of the intersection upgrades and how they work.
